The Fargo Park District hosted the 31st Annual Santa Village at Rheault Farm November 26 through December 23. During this time there were over 15,600 visitors that came to the event and gave donations to benefit those in need in our community.
Admission to Santa Village is free, but donations were encouraged. Visitors were asked to donate non-perishable foods, new or gently used toys or cash. All donations are given to families in Cass and Clay counties.
During the 2017 Season of Giving, $3,951.68 in cash donations were collected. The cash donations were distributed to the Giving Tree of Hope and Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s Fargo. There were 6,241 pounds of non-perishable food items donated to the Great Plains Food Bank. Over 900 new and gently used toys were given to the YMCA 21st Century Community Learning Center. Santa Village also delivered 2,751 letters to Macy’s, who in turn donated $1 per letter to the Make a Wish Foundation North Dakota.
“Each year the community confirms the value of sharing with others through their generosity at Santa Village,” says Jessica Korynta, Program Coordinator for the Fargo Park District. “I am amazed by the families that visit Santa Village and their desire to help others. Their donations helped brighten the holiday season for our community’s children and families in need.”
Santa Village is a program by the Fargo Park District sponsored in part by Pepsi, Applebee’s, Cass-Clay Creamery, Crown Trophy, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Bremer Bank, Ruby Tuesday, Scheels, Dabbert Custom Homes, Carpet World, VISION Bank, Indigo Signs and other area businesses.
